Janice McAfee, wife of the recently deceased Antivirus pioneer and crypto evangelist John McAfee, doubts that McAfee’s death was a suicide.

McAfee had “more Fight left in him”

According to the official narrative, John McAfee was found dead in his cell near Barcelona, Spain by prison wardens, only a few hours after his extradition to the US was ordered by a Spanish court. He was wanted by the US authorities for tax evasion and fraud charges that had, if found guilty, sent him behind bars for the rest of his life.

An autopsy ruled his death suicide by hanging, according to an unconfirmed report by the Spanish newspaper El Pais, however, no official statement has been published by the Spanish authorities yet. His widow, Janice McAfee, doubts the suicide narrative and calls for an independent autopsy instead, explicitly mentioning the unconfirmed El Pais report:

The investigation into John’s death is still ongoing but I will share what information I can, when I can. Until then, I do not accept the ‘suicide’ story that has been spread by the malignant cancer that is the [mainstream media]. They and their unnamed sources are not to be trusted.

She further explained that her husband had more fight left in him, in both a legal and psychological sense. McAfee would have appealed the extradition, which could have delayed the process by at least several months. Also, John McAfee’s lawyer, who was in close contact with him during his time in jail, confirmed that his client had no suicidal intentions.

Was McAfee ‘Epstein’d’?

The death of John McAfee bears some resemblance to the purported suicide of Jeffrey Epstein. McAfee himself referenced the Epstein case numerous times. In December 2019, he stated on Twitter:

If I suicide myself, I didn’t. I was whackd. Check my right arm.

On his right arm, he wore a tattoo with the label WHACKD, in reference to the popular conspiracy theory that Jeffrey Epstein was murdered under the blessing of US officials. A month prior, he launched a joke-cryptocurrency named Epstein Didn’t Kill Himself (WHACKD).

McAfee claimed that he had enough compromising information about politicians and agencies to have US authorities wanting to see him dead, but to this date, it is unclear what this information is supposed to be and why McAfee didn’t publish it already. In contrast to Jeffrey Epstein, whose testimony could have uncovered a pedophilia scandal among high-ranking US officials, McAfee’s never made any concrete claims or accusations.

Instagram from the Grave

Finally, there is a third theory, under which McAfee did indeed kill himself, but specifically staged his death in order to create another conspiracy theory. Given that the 75-year-old faced spending the rest of his life in prison, this option would certainly be a worthy exit for the master of self-dramatization John McAfee was.

If this theory holds true, it would also bear the question whether his widow, or any other person was informed of his plan. What makes the theory somewhat credible is the fact that, only minutes after McAfee’s death was reported, a plain image of the letter Q (referencing the QAnon conspiracy theory) was posted on his Instagram account, which has been deleted shortly after the post. This means that someone who knows (or, more unlikely, hacked) McAfee’s login credentials, must have played some part in this incident.
