Blockstack is a new decentralized internet and ecosystem comprised of both an open source project and Public Benefit Corporation (PBC). How it works: Blockstack is a browser extension and developer platform. Developers start by building a single-page application in Javascript then plug into user-run APIs, which eliminates a centralized point of control. Blockstack provides key tools to developers enabling access to decentralized networking, user-controlled storage, blockchain-based identities, and decentralized authentication. Personal users run decentralized apps through the Blockstack browser and grant applications read and write access as they choose. Information is encrypted and stored on users personal devices. There are no middlemen, no passwords, and no massive data silos to breach.
