The Untapped Power Of Water: HydroMiner’s ICO Review

Water is a precious universal resource. Indeed, just over 70% of Earth’s surface is covered in it. Life as we know it would not be possible without this abundant liquid.

Water has many uses. It quenches our thirst and it washes our clothes and our cars. It produces electricity in hydroelectric dams, and cools down reactors in nuclear plants, too. And in ice form, it turns a refreshing drink into a good summer treat.

But water is much more than that. A lot of its power is yet untapped. It took the rise of cryptocurrencies and the sharp minds of a group of entrepeneurs in Austria to turn water into the driving force of a thriving currency mining business.

This piece is a full disclosure, a statement of facts without any intention of advice or endorsement about HydroMiner or its ICO.

We recently published a piece on Hydrominer’s ecological solution to the costly business of cryptocurrency mining.

Mining operations are resource-intensive, and due to the markedly high electricity prices across Europe, turning a profit can be challenging.

HydroMiner however has a big card in its favor. The company gets 1 kWh of electricity at around 10c, more or less the price offered in the American continent, and decidedly lower than the average European price.

The company utilizes shipping containers to set up its mining rigs and cools them with water, while enjoying extra-low electricity prices to maximize benefits.

Riding on the Crest of a Cryptowave: Hydrominer’s ICO and Token Sale

HydroMiner has been doing great business so far. Its pre-sale ICO of H20 tokens sold out in 36 minutes. The set cap of 1,500 ETH ($429K USD) was reached in record time. During this short period, 187,500 H2O tokens were sold at a fixed buy-in of 50 ETH (about $10K USD), with a 25% bonus.

The company launched its Token Sale, on October 18, 2017, and will continue until November 15, 2017, at the exchange rate of 1 H2O = 0.01 ETH. The sale is conducted on the Ethereum blockchain.

Those interested can purchase H20 tokens by sending ETH to the address listed on the website shortly before the commencement of the ICO. After the ICO, tokens can be bought on any participating exchange.

HydroMiner’s Token Sale offers:

  • The best available price for eco-friendly energy
  • An ideal hosting environment, usually in or near a power station or river
  • A business model that enables ongoing updating of the hardware used

If all goes according to plan, monthly payouts to token holders will begin on February 1, 2018. The company will have an ongoing token sale from the first day of 2018 onward.

It is important to note that your Ethereum wallet must be whitelisted, if you wish to participate in the token sale.

The H20 Token

HydroMiner’s proprietary currency is the H20 Token, which is based on the ERC20 standard.

H20 tokens obtained in the sale can be exchanged for mining time, starting in February 2018.

To exchange H2O tokens for mining time, H2O token holders must register on the HydroMiner platform. H2O tokens can then be credited towards mining time.

At the time of writing, almost 780k tokens had been sold, with a value of almost 2k in US dollars.

Hydrominer intends for the proceedings of the ICO to be allocated to hardware, expansion costs at the power stations, and mounting the equipment, besides marketing, legal, and advisory fees.
