Ripple (XRP) and IOTA (MIOTA) both are altcoins taking on Ethereum and Bitcoin. Neither one is mineable and Ripple (XRP) is more centralized as compared to IOTA (MIOTA).
So, which one do you think is the better platform for 2018? Well, let’s take a look at both.
IOTA vs. Ripple: the technology
The company Ripple wants XRP to be the transactional layer of international money transfer. XRP is the fundamental native currency on the Ripple blockchain and works on the Ripple protocols usually known as (RTXP). It’s an open source platform that supports fiat transactions, token issuance, and crypto assets.
Ripple’s objective is to enable the financial institutions and banks to access the cross-border transactions cheaper and faster.
Expectedly, XRP is set to reduce the cost of carrying out transactions and the time it takes to make an international money transfer. In fact, it transforms the whole scenario in terms of cost and speed.
IOTA is identical with the Internet of Things (IoT) technology. Its fundamental technology is Tangle. The system of IOTA is a blockless Quantum–resistant network that works as a (DAG) Directed Acyclic Graph.
It doesn’t rely on staking and mining either but relies on the user’s “transactors” on the network. It is decentralized and its main objective is to enable an ecosystem where the Internet of Things will be the working force of every machine around the globe.
Additionally, it wants to be a platform that will transform the micro-payments field through a highly scalable opensource network. The thing that makes IOTA appealing is the deficiency of fees and the network which gets better with use.
Ripple XRP vs. MIOTA: which platform is better for 2018?
Both these coins are listed on some major trading platforms such as Binance, Bittrex, and Bitfinex. However, they haven’t made it to the US market’s biggest exchanging platform, Coinbase, yet.
Currently, Ripple (XRP) is the 3rd cryptocurrency on the market, behind Ethereum and Bitcoin. Interestingly, with a market capitalization of $32.3 billion, XRP dwarfs IOTA six times over. At the moment, IOTA is ranked at 9th position with a market capitalization of $5.1 billion. Until now, both these coins have lost almost 50% of their value. Ripple dropped from a high price of $3.56 to $0.822.
IOTA also slumped from $4.20 to the current $1.86. In the past week, Ripple is up 13.98% as compared to IOTA’S 10.82%. Subsequently, IOTA has regained its position in the top 10 whilst Ripple tries to hold off the challenge by BTC cash.
Predictions put both coins into the green zone for 2018. Therefore, in terms of investment, both these coins hold potential for 2018. However, we would give it to XRP because of its huge interest from the financial institutions. IOTA will also see a big jump, but Ripple (XRP) comes out as a better platform for 2018.
