Tell us about Pillar Project?
At the Pillar Project, we’re building the world’s first smart wallet. It will let you do much more than a normal crypto wallet. We’re now 40 people in London; designing, developing, and preparing to launch our first version.
How was the last year, what worked well, and what didn’t move as quickly as you would have liked?
We had a successful ICO in July. Unfortunately, we didn’t do KYC and have had a very difficult time converting the Ether we received into fiat currency. Banks are all scared of crypto-companies. Regulators have been much more of a problem than a help in creating this new world. Nonetheless, the ICO allowed us to get started building the personal data locker, a dream I’ve had for 20 years.
What are your plans for the future?
Everything is now targeted toward the wallet. We want it to be a platform people can build their businesses on. We’re building a self-contained ICO platform that will help launch utility tokens as well as equity tokens (with appropriate licenses).

Web pioneer, author, and serial entrepreneur David Siegel is the CEO of 20|30 and led the team to a successful ICO of the Pillar Project in July, 2017. The project raised over $20 million and is now operating in London. David is the author of five books on the web and business. His most recent book, Pull, describes an entirely new way to think about data, and serves as the blueprint for the Pillar Project. David has given over 140 keynote speeches around the world and is a thought leader in innovation, blockchain, business, startups, and investing.
David received a math degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder and a master’s in computer science from Stanford. He was the first employee of Pixar after Steve Jobs funded the company in 1986. He soon left to begin a life of entrepreneurship in Silicon Valley. There, he created the Tekton typeface, sold by Adobe and one of the world’s bestselling fonts. He also created Graphite and Zapfino fonts. In 1995, he wrote Creating Killer Web Sites, the first book on web design and a world-wide bestseller. He started Studio Verso, one of the world’s first digital agencies, and sold it to KPMG in 1999. He wrote Secrets of Successful Web Sites and Futurize Your Enterprise before moving to New York City to work on the semantic web.
Since then, David has been a chocolate expert, leading dark chocolate tastings in the US. He spent five years building a body of work he calls Business Agility, which you can learn about on his web site and YouTube channel.
In 2016, David, Tomer, and others tried to raise money for their new blockchain venture, 20|30. After meeting with many angels and venture capitalists, David decided to build a website and create an online community. He built and launched 2030.io in early January, 2017. Hundreds of people from around the world found the site and joined the community. The CryptX index was the first project they worked on, and Pillar was the second.
After the successful ICO, David brought the team to Poprad, Slovakia, to build community and relationships. Then he published The Token Handbook and became active as a speaker, explaining the need for equity tokens and tickets. The Pillar project now has a growing team of people working to build the foundation described in David’s many writings.
At 20|30, David is working with his expanding team on a portfolio of new products including the CryptX index token, blockchain-based prescriptions, the Token Factory ICO onboarding service, and much more. He gives speeches at conferences around the world and consults for a few select clients. The 20|30 equity ICO is planned for summer 2018.
