An AI ecosystem based on blockchain is now being developed by AI Crypto, a brand-new start-up in Korea. AI Crypto is now trying to adapt blockchain technology to the field of AI research to solve problems regarding AI development, such as the purposeless use of GPU resources and machine learning research data oligopoly by big corporations.
Blockchain technology used in cryptocurrency mining wastes too much electricity, conducting useless calculations on Graphics Processing Units (GPU). To prevent these calculations, the AI Crypto team developed a new technology called “Distributed GPU Network”. With this, requests can be distributed equally to all GPU pools. Thus one individual won’t be able to assign specific GPU calculations, preventing the misuse of GPU resources. AI Crypto team is also developing a new consensus mechanism called Proof of Value (PoV) so that they can verify transactions through AI machine learning calculations.
Researchers need a large amount of data in order to conduct machine learning research. But a large quantity of data is difficult to acquire unless for large corporations. Currently, only large corporations such as Google and Apple can access large data sets required to run complicated machine learning calculations. The ultimate purpose of AI Crypto is to solve this drawback by recompensing data providers with AI Crypto Tokens. Data providers will receive tokens whenever their data gets used. This rewarding system will help create and distribute more AI data.
AI model is extremely difficult to develop since an AI must go through the massive amount of data to identify pictures or recognize voices. AI Crypto reduces the number of effort developers had to put in in order to access data and build models, also enabling them to easily show them to various companies. In short, developers can develop models easily, and small companies can look through AI models easily. The general goal of AI Crypto is to reduce the cost of developing AI models.
